Sexual health, defined by the World Health Organization, is, “…not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction, or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination, and violence”. Sexual health can have many different concepts which make it a very big part of human health.
Sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STD/STI), sexual violence prevention, reproductive concerns, HIV/AIDS prevention, LGBTQ+ health, and healthy pregnancies are just some of the areas of focus when learning about sexual health but these topics are not all that make up sexual health.
