The work of this grant is to educate the community about the dangers of youth vaping, encourage youth who are vaping to quit by using the My Life My Quit program and to decrease the availability and accessibility of tobacco products to youth.
The youth vaping rate in Summit County is xx%. Teachers and school administrators are seeing use in classrooms and in bathrooms; parents are finding products and dealing with their child’s changed behaviors; and the community wants to help.
SCPH created the Summit County Youth Vaping Taskforce that is charged with creating and implementing a community based action plan around youth vaping. If you are interested in joining the taskforce please contact Jessie Wingert at jwingert@schd.org.
My Life My Quit is a FREE quit vaping program for youth under the age of 18. Youth can call or text 855-891-9989 to enroll. The program is five weeks long and uses quit coaches to help youth. A certificate is awarded at the end of the program. Anyone over the age of 18 will be referred to the Ohio Tobacco Quitline.
